AWAKEN – OUR ACHARYAS
Hindus, including Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists today are much more
depressed and pessimistic than Arjun – who amidst mighty armies of
Kauravas and Pandavas, in the battlefield at Kurukshetra, refused to
fight those who had perpetrated cruelties for long time, on his family
in spite of Lord Krishna’s intervention. One reason for this is that
today Hindus do not have someone like Lord Krishna who can guide them
with a clear message of the Geeta, “Shed your cowardice : do not yield
to injustice : stand up : perform your duty, your Dharma and
fight for justice. Killing Asuri and adharmic people is no sin. Perform
your karmas and surrender them to me”.
Pravachans by our
Acharyas on TV (media) and in shivars all over the country give a
feeling of opium making Hindus more and more docile, submissive and
tolerant towards cruelties on their lives, places of worship and
properties. Stress in most pravachans is on moksh, detachment,
forgiveness and love for all. This makes Hindus more and more selfish,
self-centered and tolerant to even the most heinous crimes. Hindus pent
up feelings arise very rarely in a commutative mass reaction, like
demolition of a disputed structure, a symbol of shame at Ayodhya and
burning alive of about 40 pilgrims at Godhra in Gujarat.
India
is a young nation and vast majority of intelligent and talented
youngsters, want a vibrant life. It is difficult to attract them to
pravachans which make us submissive, coward and passive. Media in TV,
magazines, newspapers, globalization and live pastures offer better
attraction. How to motivate young spiritually, the future of India as
per Swami Vivekananda is a great challenge, which our Acharyas should
face. Orientation in their pravachans is urgently called for. At the
Parliament of Religions at Chicago in 1893, Swami Vivekananda cried in
anguish, “If Hindus dig all the dirt from the bottom of the Pacific
Ocean and throw it on your face, then it will be only a small speck
compared to what the missionaries have done to our religion and
culture. Today, after six decades of India’s partition in 1947, losing
about 1/3rd of our country, we are facing a bigger challenge. Sacrilege
and cruelties in truncated India on Hindus including Buddhists, Sikhs
and Jains can fill pages, putting to shame any one who has courage and
self-respect. Swami Vivekananda pleaded strongly for a blend of our
spiritualism with the West’s scientific temper which today’s pravachans
sadly lack. Religion without science is blind and science without
religion is lame. Einstein also echoed Swami Vivekananda’s sentiments.
Swami
Vivekananda also stated that India too much of religion while need was
for help to the poor and the downtrodden called Dalits. You cannot feed
hungry stomachs and save religion by merely chanting mantras. Today we
find too much of religions in the form of moksh – tyag etc, though the
need is for a clear message of the Geeta. As per Sri Aurobindo - a
forgotten giant of India’s Independence - the root cause of Hindus
present passive attitude is the Non-Violence advocated by the Gandhian
philosophy. Non-Violence is not a Vedic concept as this does more harm
if our dharna, sacred places, life and property cannot be protected.
Terrorists have no respect for Non-Violence as this is treated by them
as cowardice. Gods do not want cowards as devotees. They bless the
patriots who fight with a sense of honour. By making Ahinsa as a way of
life, Hindus have made themselves a tempting target for any aggressor.
This is not a religious virtue but a sign of profanity and shameless
exercise to enshrine a most despicable vice as a splendid virtue. The
nation which loses its nerve to defend its honour becomes a football to
be played with by every Tom, Dick and Harry.
In ancient India
many kings were Rajrishis and had respected Acharyas in their courts
for guidance to ensure justice and protection to all citizens. With the
onset of democracy, a product of the French Revolution, the world wide
mantra for democratic rule, in-built in Hinduism, is no doubt a
commendable political process. But where the voters are poor and
illiterate, they become a vote-bank of vested interests who exploit
them and consequently harm the entire nation, as 51 fools can rule the
49 wise people
European countries adopted secularism to separate
their Governments from the influence of Roman (Vatican) Catholic Popes.
They and the USA follow three basic postulates of secularism, viz (i)
non-discrimination between citizens on the basis of religion or way of
worship (ii) uniform law for all citizens and (iii) equality of all
citizens before the law. Secularism does not conflict with our Sanatana
Dharama concepts but none of the Islamic countries accepts secularism.
Islam, essentially an Arab National Political Movement, does not allow
any dissent or discussion or analysis. Secularism, being devoid of
religion, means “Kafir”. Muslims in non-Muslim countries demand
secularism, democracy and human rights but do not allow such freedom to
non-Muslims in their countries. These privileges must be made
reciprocal at international level. Citizens of Muslim majority
countries denying reciprocal privileges also should be debarred of such
freedom.
The worst hit are Hindus, including all non-Muslims
with their vast majority, as India neither has a constitution on
secular postulates, nor our Rulers give similar non-discriminatory
treatment to all citizens. Muslims are out right gainers and enjoy
special privileges on the plea of poverty and backwardness which are
in-built in Islam. Hindus have been further divided and sub-divided on
the basis of caste, economics, literacy etc. Why are the poor
illiterates and backwards called dalits and prevented to worship in the
temples at some places. The Pandits and the upper castes should be
publically penalized for such conduct. Hinduism believes there is
divinity in every individual, irrespective of birth, status and karma.
Even
after 60 years of India’s independence, we have the World’s largest
population below the poverty line. Instead of removing poverty and
illiteracy, our perverted and selfish politicians use them as
vote-banks.
Our big ray of hope, we can see is in our Acharyas,
if they individually or jointly take up the challenge. If they
hesitate, what worth will be dharma, if the country does not survive.
The writing is there on the wall. We can only plead and appeal to our
Acharyas and all other right thinking and concerned citizens.
